Behind the scenes with the Blades

From head-to-head motion graphics to panoramic videos - we’ve been proudly assisting Sheffield United Football Club with their pre-match social media offering.

It has seen members of the HRM team provide supporters with a behind-the-scenes view of the build-up ahead of the Blades’ fixtures at Bramall Lane against AFC Wimbledon, Scunthorpe United and Bolton Wanderers.

Posts have been engaging and interacting with fans across the Club’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Highlights of our work were a panoramic video of the Bramall Lane fans belting out the Club’s ‘Greasy Chip Butty’ song, a video which on Facebook alone reached 396,645 people, was viewed 133,000 times, ‘liked’ more than 3,000 times and had 1,546 shares.

Other behind-the-scenes content we’ve been providing included an inside view of the players’ tunnel as both teams walked out onto the pitch before kick-off, videos of the rapturous goal celebrations – particularly following Billy Sharp’s equaliser in the top-of-the-table clash with Scunthorpe.

We have also put together head-to-head motion graphics which provide supporters with a background to the history of each fixture and the recent form of both teams, as well as a video shadowing the players following the game against Scunthorpe as they applauded the Bramall Lane supporters.

Video of the players returning to the dressing room after games also proved a big hit with fans.

Martin Ross, our managing director, said: “It’s been a privilege to be part of Sheffield United’s social media coverage as the Blades continue to chase promotion back to the Championship.

“The feedback shows not only how powerful a behind-the-scenes view can be, but how much Sheffield United means to the dedicated fans who follow the Blades, game after game, year after year.”
