#HRM20 - office moves & client events
By Susan Waple
From overseeing office moves to organising client events, I have been involved in a wide variety of activities and projects as operations director at HRM.
Back in 2001 working for Alison and Martin at Hurndall Ross Media, as we were then known, involved press releases being sent by fax and I joined a small team working out of HR Media’s second office at The Workstation on Paternoster Row.
But we soon had the office knocked through to the next unit to accommodate the growing team.
For the last ten years we’ve been based at headquarters on Shoreham Street and during this time I’ve had the pleasure of organising and being involved in lots of exciting events.
Along the way it was great to work with Piccolino’s for the opening of their restaurant in the Peace Gardens - now a well-established Sheffield eatery - with former cricketer Michael Vaughan and retired Sheffield Wednesday footballer David Hirst among those making an appearance at the opening.
Earlier this year I was involved with Westfield Health’s Eldercare event bringing together key health influencers in the city to highlight the issues of an ageing population, as well as showcasing Westfield’s new office.
My highlight has to be working with the Olympic Legacy Park to organisation the Sheffield Celebration of Sport which was held in the middle of the indoor track at EIS – Sheffield, the first event of its kind to be held in the venue.
It truly was a celebration of the success of Sheffield’s past, present and future sporting stars with guests including Olympic silver medal winning trampolining sensation Bryony Page, Ponds Forge diver, Freddie Woodward, who represented Team GB at the Rio Olympics, and of course the city’s very own Olympic golden girl Jessica Ennis-Hill.
It’s been great to be part of the HR Media team - here’s to our 20th anniversary!
